IMG_2234 IMG_2236 IMG_2238 IMG_2241 IMG_2245 IMG_2251 IMG_2255Comfy, flattering & simple are ways to describe all of my most valued dresses in my wardrobe and this one by Halogen isn’t an exception! I love its simplicity with the asymmetrical ruching, the soft, double-layered fabric and its length that’s appropriate for both a night out downtown and a nice dinner date. Once it gets a little cooler, I’ll pair it with a leather moto jacket for an edgier look.

I took advantage of my employee discount during my last week working at Nordstrom and got an irresistible deal on this dress and super cute and colorful clutch by Topshop x Nordstrom!

If you haven’t heard already, I start working at J.Crew next week and I’m super excited! Most of my closet is either J.Crew or Madewell, so it’s safe to say their a brand I closely identify with. Learning & growing with the company I most adore is a dream for me as I plan to make moves towards a corporate position in NY. In the meantime, come shop with me and get styled for fall!

As I approach my five year anniversary of blogging, I’m working on a total revamp for COJ to celebrate and to commemorate me entering a new phase in my fashion career.

Stay tuned, guys!

IMG_3020 IMG_3040 IMG_3055 IMG_3061 IMG_3135 IMG_3120 IMG_3140 IMG_3090 IMG_3106IMG_3089You know when there’s a color you don’t often wear or necessarily feel like would look great on you? But then you actually wear it and start getting compliments like, “That’s YOUR color!”? Red-orange is that color for me, and might become one of my signature colors. It just gives off an exciting energy, you know?

Anywho, being more of a “casual” kind of girl, I love when I wear things that can be easily dressed up & down with a simple change in shoes or accessories. I paired this bright boho blouse with dark skinnies and casual heels. I threw on some hoops and a bit of arm candy and I was good to go for a nice day outing!

 Earrings – Light Years

Shoes – Franco Sarto

Bag – Rebecca Minkoff

I’m becoming more consistent with wearing eyeshadow (before I knew about eye primer, my shadow used to crease like crazy and I just didn’t want to be bothered with it), and for my everyday look, I really like to stick with neutral and subtle shades. For makeup, I used:

Neutral eyeshadow palette (drugstore brand) for the lids

‘Saddle’ eyeshadow by M.A.C. for the creases

‘Luster Drops’ (highlight) by M.A.C.

‘Spiked’ eyebrow pencil by M.A.C.

‘Breath of Plum’ blush by M.A.C.

‘Chesnut’ lip liner by M.A.C.

‘Bare-ly Legal’ lipstick by Wet n Wild

Hope you all are having a fab Friday!

I just purchased my new favorite jacket the other day at Madewell! As a true bargain shopper, I waited a couple months for it to go on sale and it finally did! Army green jackets are on trend right now, but I feel like I’ll be able to wear this for years to come as a wardrobe staple.

When I dress, I like to take one focal point and build around it with other complimentary elements. I kept it really simple with this look, wearing minimal jewelry and strappy sandals. Cat eye sunnies are the best fitting shape for my face, so I grabbed this inexpensive pair at my job. I’m still on the hunt for a really good designer pair to fit my style and complete my every day look!

Started my first week at work and I love it so far! If I ever had any doubt about whether or not the fashion industry was for me,  it has long flown out the window!

Now that I’m working full time, I’ve had to add a few more staple pieces to my wardrobe that I’m able to pair with a lot. Now I have a variety of light, chic cardigans, blazers, and various styles of black pants/jeggings that I can wear with almost everything. My favorites are the super stretchy Skinny Skinny Ponte Pants by Madewell I’m wearing below, mainly because of their comfortable material.

Homecoming Outfits Inspiration

Homecoming Inspiration
Homecoming is right around the corner! Stand out from the sea of red tees, leggings, and cowboy boots [-__-] with loud sweaters, printed denim, paired with suede Chelsea boots or for a dressier occasion, a pair of wedges  [the happy medium]. Layer it up with a denim or leather jacket for cooler days or a stylish fur vest. You don’t have to blend in with the school colors, open your minds and be fly! Have fun;)

Solange: The New Face of Madewell

What is Madewell?
Madewell is actually a really dope store (located at Southpark mall in Charlotte & Southpoint mall in Durham, for all of my NC readers) that I’ve never really noticed before! I explored there website and I love the way they mix prints and textures in their Fall Lookbook. They have a lot of cool staple pieces and they show so many fun ways of wearing stripes – which I loveee!
On their website, they have a ‘How to Mix Well’ Lookbook that gives you tips on how to pair unexpected pieces together stylishly. Click HERE to view!
Some of my favs from the site:
How perfect is Solange for this campaign? Her style matches  the brand so well! Kudos and two thumbs up to Madewell for a great marketing move!
I’ll be shopping, will you?
